"Peace" calligraphy by Rev. Henry Ajiki
I've decided to leave Henry's "Peace" calligraphy on this page for the whole year.* It seems important to have it here, beaming its Peace vibration to all of us, reminding us that the only way to bring peace to the Earth is by being peace-full ourselves. When we embody Peace in our thoughts, words, and deeds — and in every cell and atom of us — then Peace will be reflected in every creature and every cell and atom of the Earth. Let's make 2010 the year of Peace!

I've been
out of the country for two months. What a shock, landing in Chicago and hearing everyone around me speaking English (Hey, that isn't English, it's Chicagoan!).... It's always that way, of course, coming back — and I always forget! : ^ )
I landed there in mid-afternoon and didn't leave until the next morning ... so I was able to meet, for the first time in person, someone who has been an email friend for a long time: Andrea. I was picked up at the airport by two other friends (whom I knew in person already), Dave and Jo, and then we all met for dinner at a restaurant.
Speaking of peace....

Andrea was not
the only email friend I met in person for the first time this year. Elif, in Turkey, was another one. Elif, whose name is the first letter of the Arabic alphabet! I met her by email, 8 or 9 years ago. She was living in Katmandu, Nepal. She lived there for 11 years. She was teaching Reiki to the Buddhist monks. Now she has come back home to Turkey, and has written a book about her time in Katmandu.

The book, published this spring, is making quite a splash — and Elif is suddenly finding herself a bit of a celebrity! Newspapers and magazines are interviewing her, fans of the book are writing emails to her, and some of them are just showing up unannounced at her door! Four women from Istanbul did that one day while I was visiting her: flew to Bodrum, went to the village Elif lives in, and started asking people for directions to her house....
You won't be able to read this book unless you know Turkish. But you can imagine it's full of wild stories, just by looking at the cover. Elif says she left out some of the best ones, because they were just too unbelievable! That's Elif in front, with some of the guys she used to hang out with. : ^ >
Last year
was when I first began meeting email friends in person — when I was invited to Romania by some of them. And, since I was going to Romania, I went to Turkey and Serbia also, to meet friends there. In Romania there was Mihai ... and Irina, Constantin, Ioana, Laura.... Dragan in Serbia. Zeyneb in Turkey (though I had met her before, when she came to Hawai'i).
My friend Mihai Albu — Bucharest, Romania, 2009 — standing in front of a store that bears his name. But this Mihai Albu is not the famous fashion designer — he is none other than the Founder and Grand Master of Sleeping Chi Gung, Borachitito and Full Boracho styles! : ^ )
Miruna, Irina, Mihai, db, Ioana, Diana — after book launch for Reiki, Adevărata Poveste (Romanian edition of Reiki, The True Story), Bucharest, May 2010. Both Irina and Ioana, within 30 seconds of saying hello to me — and almost in unison — said, "You seem more peaceful than last year...." !!!!!
